A Cat, A Dog And The Elusiveness Of Time…!
A Philosophical Journey ★
In this newsletter, I am taking you on a little philosophical journey about time. As we approach the end of the year, I often feel like time becomes more tangible. The calendar gives shape to this elusive thing called time, and the countdown to the year’s end is on!
Speaking of the calendar… I’m also super excited to share a new brainchild of mine that I’ve been plotting on for a while…
The Soulutions Horsey Planner for 2026!

This planner offers so much more than your average calendar: you’ll find room for your dreams & goals, as well as space for weekly reflections & gratitude:
★ What felt good this week?
★ What did my horse teach me?
★ Notes about your sessions with your horse, your time at the barn with your barn community, in nature in general, or observations, your favorite moments, you name it!
That’s not it, though! There is a Stable Life section with everything you need for your horse, including Horse Health records, Emergency Contacts, and travel checklists.
We don’t stop there!
To round things out, there is a Mane Moments section for you to jot down memories, ideas, clinic notes, new favorite quotes you come across, things you can do now that you couldn’t do this time last year (#itsaboutthejourneynotthedestination), bucket list trips, wishlists, books to read or podcasts to listen to, and so much more!

Honestly, I already don’t know how I ever lived without my SoulutionsHorsey Planner!
Now that I let the cat out of the bag, let’s resume our philosophical journey through time: Did you know that the phrase “dog days” comes from ancient Greek and Roman astronomy? During the hottest part of the year, the star Sirius, also known as the Dog Star in the constellation Canis Major, rises & sets with the sun.
Dog Star ➡️Dog Days. There you go, your daily dose of trivia knowledge!
Time always brings change, such as this most recent time change. Raise your hand if you complained about the lost hour and the early darkness.
Look at it this way: this time change is giving you a “permission to hunker!”
“Sorry, it’s 5 pm, I can’t do anything more today. Time to curl up on the couch with a cozy blankie and a good book or to watch your favorite shows!
I am currently reading Tik Maynard’s “Starting in the Middle” and am thoroughly enjoying it.
This could be the first book to add to your reading list in your Soulutions Horsey Planner. Drop me a line and let me know what you are currently reading!
Melissa Kirsch wrote in the New York Times morning edition (Nov. 1, 2025) that the ancient Greeks experienced time in two ways:
★ Chronos was the clock time that governs our lives, bedtime, and estimated departure time, the hour gained or lost.
★ Kairos referred to a more figurative measure of time — the right time, the moment of opportunity, the sacred window for action. In order to recognize kairos, we have to be aware, awake, and present.
I felt it was Kairos to create the Soulutions Horsey Planner for 2026, so that I can be better about my Chronos…!
Melissa says that when she thinks about the mystical possibilities of kairos, it seems mundane, boring, and uncreative to be blue about a lost chronological hour. In any season, there is kairos.
These moments of possibility, of serendipity, arrive in all seasons, but we have to be awake to seize them. The stillness of the colder, darker months, that license to hunker, is a time to slow down and observe.
What windows of luck and chance and coincidence emerge when we’re a little quieter, a little more observant?
I, for one, am excited to look at things from that point of view. Thank you, Melissa, for the inspiration! It pairs beautifully with Jen Sincero’s “This will be good, because…” (fill in the blank) mindset.
That’s exactly the mindset the Soulutions Horsey Planner supports. It gives you space to pause, notice what the past week taught you, and set yourself up for a fresh start – not by holding on to the past but by getting clear and intentional about what you want from the week/month/year ahead.

Wishing you a beautiful holiday season full of possibility & serendipity, and a great time, in this window that invites both!
